GOOD NEWS FOR HUMMEL COLLECTORS
In 2008 it was announced that Goebel was in bankruptcy and that the famous M. I. Hummel line would be discontued. Production of Hummel figurines stopped in October of 2008.
In February of 2009 Goebel put out a press release that raised hopes of Hummel lovers around the world. A new buyer was found for Hummel which plans to resume production at the old facility with former Hummel employees. Part of the press release from Goebel is below. M.I. Hummel figurines find new home at old location
Rodental, 6 February 2009 -
•Investor takes over manufacturing facilities and rights for M.I. Hummel figurines by Goebel
•Newly founded Manufaktur Rodental GmbH plans to resume M.I. Hummel production in February, initially with around 30 employees
•The reorganisation of Goebel Porcelain Factory is now complete
The new manufacturer plans to continue and even expand the M.I.Hummel Club. Meanwhile, Goebel plans to focus on their line of glass and porcelain accessories.
